While we were often spoiled with some sunshine and warmer temperatures in October, November is now the start of the dark season.
So while we wake up in the morning and are greeted by darkness, we rush tiredly from A to B in 3 degree heat and struggle through everyday life with a chronically bad mood, we often get sick.
Respiratory infections and extreme fatigue are particularly common between November and April and the doctor's offices are overcrowded.
Here's the good news: You can prevent general fatigue, chronic bad mood, declining physical performance and respiratory infections in winter.
How do you do that? Of course (among other things) with the vitamin D supplementation!
Why do colds often occur in winter?
It has long been suspected that this cold waves an inadequate vitamin D supply could be responsible.
This is because a) the sun rarely shines in winter and b) even when the sky is clear, the winter sun in Central Europe is not enough to stimulate the body's own vitamin D production.
Theoretically, people in northern latitudes should be able to survive on the vitamin D reserves that their bodies have built up in the summer. However, there are many factors that make it difficult or even impossible to build up these reserves in the summer.
On the one hand, there is not always sunshine even in summer and on the other hand, the excessive use of sunscreen creams and the modern working day prevent an adequate supply of the sunshine vitamin.
So if you start the winter with a deficient vitamin D supply, you shouldn’t be surprised if you experience health problems.

How to Counteract Susceptibility to Infection with Vitamin D
One of the main functions of vitamin D is support and regulation of the immune system*.
Defense cells only start searching for invaders after they have been activated by vitamin D. Therefore, frequent susceptibility to infections is one of the symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency.
Bacteria and viruses now have an easy time and those affected suffer from constant infections, mostly of the respiratory tract. So if you are one of those people who catches every cold in your environment, then be sure to check your vitamin D levels.
Studies have shown that taking 4,000 IU of vitamin D daily reduces the risk of respiratory infections significantly reduce can.**
However, since most of us are in a severe situation of deficiency, we believe Dosages of 10,000 IU or 20.000 IU is quite reasonableto refill the storage and keep it constant.
Does vitamin D also work for chronic exhaustion and fatigue?
A vitamin D deficiency is one of the causes of chronic fatigue, exhaustion and also chronically depressed mood, as it is involved in numerous metabolic processes in the body.***
Since these conditions can be very stressful, many people go to the doctor and get themselves checked. When examining these symptoms, the doctor should always a vitamin D test make.
However, when evaluating the vitamin D test, many patients are told that everything is fine, even if the patient in question everything is not going wellThey often go home without any cause for their symptoms being identified.
Unfortunately, vitamin D levels are 20 ng/ml (25-OH vitamin D3 value) was judged to be sufficient. However, this value is much too low! If these patients had a vitamin D level over 40 ng/ml, in many cases you would actually be better off.
From our over 30 years of experience we would recommend a D3 value of 70 (female) and 90 (male)! Different designations must also be taken into account! The above recommendation refers to the 25-OH vitamin D3 value.
We encourage you to counteract the development of chronic complaints by taking care of your vitamin D levels.
